Vervins is a French commune in the Aisne department in Picardy. Vervins is mentioned in the Antonine itinerary as the Verbinum and the Peutinger Table as the Vironum. This town was mostly north of the medieval town. It found Gallo-Roman ruins over a large area. It had a monumental center (theater and Temple). These archaeological discoveries attest to its relative importance.
